The city of name tags

first of all a clarification ... a few questions have been raised about the identity of "the character" mentioned in "Being..",I shall hereby clarify(though with a heavy heart) that the character is purely fictious. Now the blog...

Seinfeld is a popular american comedy of the early 90s.The style of humour is an even mix of situational and sarcastic (neither as situational as Friends, nor as sarcastic as Black Adder).

In a particular episode of Seinfeld,a mayor contestant loses election becoz he acts on the advice of his girlfriend. An advice given in an odd moment of prententious thoughtfulness. He announced that if he became the mayor, everyone in the city would have to wear a nametag. This,in his opinion, would have made the city a very friendly place to live in.So now as you walk down the street u can say hi to the thoughtful Joe Billy Bob,who by the way is making plans to kill his father tommorow. The fat farting lady sitting alongside you is suddenly Ms. Flora McDeodrant and when the young bloke runs away with your purse in a busy marketplace,u can shout,"hey toby, wait up man your just takin the i-cards,the goddamn money is in my underwear pocket".
and ofcourse think abt the loooks on the faces of young graduates when they see Mrs Robinson walkin down the street.

Still for some strange reason the public thought that it was a horrendous idea and he lost.

Believe it or not, there exists a city of name tags in the world we live today.I visit that city very often and to the best of my knowledge,it is indeed a friendly place to live in.They used to have the concept of a jail when the city came to existence, not to mention that the maximum term of imprisonment was 24hrs.But due to extremly poor attendence at these jailhouses,in due course of time, the idea was discarded all together.Such is the nature of this altruistic society.

The city has a set of peculiar laws. The citizens are required not just to wear a nametags but write a small description of themselves hanging from the name tags. Some people prefer to flaunt their tastes in music, literature, cuisines etc while others stick to the basic minimum. The citizens also have the option of putting up their photographs on the back of their overcoat. This all is to ensure that the society as large can know more and more about you so that once two people set down to talk, they have enough material in hand to have a non awkward small talk.Such is the nature of this altruistic society.

But like in every other society the behavior of some people here too qualifies to be called bizarre. For example,This society is primarily a post modern one.So there are absolutely no restriction on anyone's wardrobe. Some women, and men too, wear a new age burka where in front of their faces these people stick photographs of movie stars, porn actors, sportsmen and even cars. Some people write their description so long that the piece of paper hangs from chest to their toe, they keep stepping over it and not to mention stumbling. They stumble every now n then making themselves a medium to fill laughter in the lifes of pedestrians.Such is the nature of this altruistic society.

The city has not known any fist fights till date but the crime against women are rising on an alrming rate. Most women in this society are plagaurised by an unlimited number of extremely corny, cheesy and down the drain vulgur pick up lines from complete losers, their fault being they are beautiful or worse just that they are women. To lose more in this plague, stand the eligible and honourable men who find it extemely difficult to approach sensible women who already have been flooded with these messages. To resolve these problems a few brave individuals like a dear friend of mine,Mr.Gyandeep Momi have taken up a double life, leading a life a good looking girl who flirts with anyone who approaches her. This,I must reiterate,is to divert some of the traffic that spreads misery in the life of the sensible women of this society. He has dedicated himself to this noble cause,in his own words,"it is our duty to end the misery of the fairer, gentler sex and mine is a small step,I hope a lot of young men will join me in this difficult but noble struggle".Many people have been
moved by the wise men's words and are actively following in his footsteps.such os the nature of this altruistic society.

There are many more facets and hece many more pecularities to this amzing city which i know abstain from exploring, for i must maintain a readable size for my article.Like a wise men once said ....

" All articles that are meant to be of any use to the public should be like mini skirts
short enough to sustain interest and long enough to cover the subject." :)

the para regarding the jailhouses made me think tht u r writing about gud old kgp(the similarities r starkingly real!!)..nice stuff neways.the "get a girl" image of orkut has almost vanished for veterans like us....even though some assholes continue with the "hey,i like ur profile, wanna be friends?" crap.its more a tool of being in touch with our buddies and pretty useful too.
